Ta Da, Community Health Educator
Ta Da was born in Burma. He moved to the Thai-Burmese border in 1991. He attended high school in Mae Khong Kha refugee camp in Thailand and lived in a refugee camp for 20 years. In 2001, he started working for the Karen Youth Organization and worked there for four years. In 2002, he started working with Drug Alcohol Recovery and Education (DARE Network) until 2011. He also worked as a health coordinator in Mae La Oon camp for two years. On June 30, 2011 he and his family moved to the United States. Ta Da has over nine years of experience with substance use treatment and community health education in Thailand. He has been working with the Karen Chemical Dependency Collaborative and the Karen Organization of Minnesota since 2016. In this role, he co-facilitates the substance use treatment group, directs the community education campaign, and facilitates community-based support programs.
