Sara Johnson was born and raised in a small town in Wisconsin. In December 2010, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies with a focus in Africa and the Middle East. She studied Arabic in Alexandria, Egypt from 2010-2011 before graduating.

Before coming to the Karen Organization of Minnesota, she volunteered at Neighborhood House teaching adult ELL courses for immigrants and refugees. Sara has been working with KOM’s employment programs since September 2012. She was the Career Development Counselor working with the DEED program until June 2018.

She is now the Program Director for Employment, Youth, & New Arrival Services at KOM.
