Mung Nai Tun was born in Burma and grew up in Umphiem refugee camp in Thailand. He came to the United States in 2012 to Rochester, New York. After a few years, he moved to Minnesota in 2015 and started working at Sun Foods grocery store, and going to school at the Roseville Adult Learning Center. In his last semester at school, Mung Nai Tun volunteered at KOM as a human service volunteer, helping interpret for walk-in clients. He graduated in 2019 and went on to join KOM’s interpreter training program, completing all three levels through Century College by the end of 2020. Mung Nai Tun joined KOM in September of 2021 as an Opportunity Navigator through Minnesota Opportunity Corps. He shares, “I really like to work with people and help people, so I knew I wanted to work in the community. I was so excited when I got this job because it’s exactly the kind of job I wanted.”
