Job Title: Job Developer (Trades Careers)  

Job Location: Hybrid between KOM offices, Roseville Adult Learning Center, employer sites, and work from home 

Job Address: 2353 Rice St., Suite 240, Roseville, MN 55113   

Status: Part-time, 20 hours/week, some nights & weekends   

Salary: $30.00-$35.00 per hour (DOQ) 

Benefits: Eligible for paid time off, sick and safe time, 10 paid holidays, and regular employer-paid training. Position is not eligible for health, disability, or life insurance benefits.

Position Summary:   

The Job Developer will engage businesses, contractors, and trades training centers across the Twin Cities Metro to build stronger partnership with KOM’s Apprentice and Manufacturing Ready training program with the aim of increasing apprenticeship placements for program graduates and creating avenues to integrate employer insights ensuring program alignment with industry needs. The Job Developer will also lend their expertise to program participants through application coaching and pre-interview preparation either 1:1 or in group settings. 

Key functions of the Job Developer include:  

  • Building and maintaining relationships with employers and providers of trades apprenticeships, tracking contacts and apprenticed job openings in a data system 
  • Provide timely connections between participants and current openings and monitor placement retention, mediating solutions when concerns or challenges arise 
  • Market the benefits of working with KOM participants to prospective employers  
  • Develop understanding of the needs faced by individual employers and contribute to continuous program improvement efforts 
  • Keep current with workforce trends and updated labor market information by researching web sites, attending meetings, maintaining contacts with various trade schools and professional/community organizations that are involved in job placement/training activities.   

Required Skills and Knowledge:  

  • Must have lived experience working in the trades or trades training center network 
  • Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written 
  • Ability to network effectively and speak persuasively to diverse constituents  
  • Leadership skills in conflict intervention, negotiation, and decision-making  
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable vehicle, proof of insurance, and good driving record. Must be willing to use personal vehicle for work.   
  • Must pass a criminal background check   

Preferred Competencies:   

  • A passion and desire to advocate for immigrant adults facing barriers to apprenticeship which need to be identified and solved  
  • Two or more years of experience in employment services, workforce development, human resources, or in a position responsible for hiring talent 
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry, and internet research 
  • Knowledge of private, local, state, and federal agencies involved in apprenticeship development and job training  
  • Marketing or public relations experience 
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating a variety of projects simultaneously and on projects requiring a high level of collaboration and organization  
  • Experience planning, organizing, and leading meetings  
  • Knowledge of refugee resettlement issues and services available to refugees in Minnesota
