Mee Kai joined KOM as a Community Health Intern in September 2020.
Mee Kai was born in a Thai refugee camp, and moved to Minnesota in 2012. She is currently a student at St. Catherine University. Mee Kai is majoring in Public Health, with a Community Health Worker concentration and a minor in International Studies.
Mee Kai writes, “When I arrived in Minnesota, one of my relatives introduced my family to KOM. With KOM, my family received much support and help. Seeing KOM committed to helping the Karen community to live a better life inspired me to give back to my community one day. When I got the opportunity to serve at the KOM as an intern, I was so excited, and I am looking forward to work with my (Karen) community.”
