Tim O’Brien is currently the Principal of the Roseville Adult Learning Center. RALC serves adult English Language Learners and everyone needing help completing a Secondary Credential and getting ready for college, training, or jobs.
His doctoral work was in Critical Pedagogy, critical theory in education, which critiques power arrangements in schools. Tim worked as an archaeological field assistant for 8 years beginning when he was 15. He worked mainly in survey work, focusing on the preservation of prehistoric cultural material from the impacts of development.
This work led to a B.A in Anthropology with a minor in Economics. His master’s degree in Teaching led to a 25 year career in teaching high school social studies, alternative programs, and Adult Basic Education (ABE).
Tim joined KOM’s Board in March 2017.
