KOM is committed to reducing and preventing mental health issues and violence in the Karen community. Through the Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative, KOM partners with the Korean Service Center, Korean Adoptive Ministries Center, SEWA-AIFW and the University of Minnesota. This program provides trainings on stress management, suicide prevention, depression, parenting, and more to refugees from Burma. The goal of this program is to build understanding of healthy relationships and mental health in the Karen refugee community, and reduce barriers to seeking support.
